Incredible fruit from a high elevation growing region. Grown in red volcanic soils, this wine showcases aromas of dried cranberry, cherry, and mocha spice from the French Oak barrels it has aged in. Flavors of rich dark fruits, baking spice, and sweet oak lead to a long and lingering finish.
Bright-red volcanic soils provide an excellent base for vines in Clear Lake as they are shallow, free-draining, and rich in magnesium which is vital to vine health. Vines can develop deep root systems, resulting in lower yields and more-concentrated berries. The tephra (small volcanic pebbles) and obsidian that are found in pockets are ideal for retaining heat throughout the day.
